The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASRi) has announced the appointment of Ubon Udoh as its managing director and CEO, Premium Times reported.
According to Rabiu, the billionaire founder of the initiative and CEO of BUA Group, the latest appointment signals “the seriousness with which the initiative intends to carry out its mandate with a focus on systems, programme development and deployment, monitoring and evaluation as well as sustainability.”
ASRi was recently set up with an annual pledge of $100 million to health, education and social development issues on the African continent. It plans to dispense $50 million to Nigeria and $50 million to the rest of Africa annually.
ASRi will also support infrastructure and capacity development.
Udoh is an expert in building systems and processes and managing donor funds and grants. He has over 20 years of experience in international development and project management.
According to Rabiu, Udoh has “an exceptional record of tangible results and value for money.” An international development and monitoring and evaluation expert, he has worked with leading financial institutions, including the World Bank, Islamic Development Bank, African Development Bank, German GIZ, UN Women Peace and Security Program, Nigerian government and several state governments in Nigeria.
