Tetracore Energy Group, an integrated energy solutions company led by Nigerian entrepreneur Olakunle Williams, has inaugurated its Phase II Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) facility in Ogun State, raising its delivery capacity to 6.2 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd).

Tetracore doubles gas production capacity

The new plant supports Nigeria’s push for cleaner, more affordable, and reliable energy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG). It is set to supply CNG to industries, power plants, and auto-gas vehicles along the country’s western corridor.

Building on the 3.1 MMscfd Phase I plant launched in June 2024, the expansion doubles Tetracore’s output. “Phase II reflects our commitment to delivering practical, cost-effective, and reliable energy solutions,” said Oladayo Williams, the company’s program executive.

Partnerships driving broader access

Tetracore has paired the expanded compression station with Mobile Refilling Units, ensuring continuous gas supply to major commercial users such as AYM Shafa, Optimal Energy, Pi-CNG buses, and Dangote Cement.

A key milestone is the partnership with Dangote Cement, which will receive 400,000 standard cubic meters (SCM) of CNG for its logistics fleet. The agreement underscores natural gas’s growing role in powering Nigeria’s industries while reducing reliance on costly diesel.

The facility also supports the government’s push for auto-CNG adoption, providing more affordable fuel options to households and businesses.

Safety and sustainability first

The Ogun plant is equipped with automated leak detection, continuous pressure monitoring, and quality, health, safety, and environment (QHSE) protocols aligned with international standards. These measures ensure that operations grow responsibly, protecting employees, assets, and local communities.

Billgas, one of Tetracore’s strategic partners, called the project a landmark achievement. “This facility demonstrates what is possible when energy companies prioritize sustainable solutions,” said its managing director.

Expanding presence in Africa’s energy market

Founded in 2022 by Olakunle Williams, Tetracore has established itself as a significant player in Nigeria’s energy sector. The company now controls 25–30 percent of the national gas supply market and is among the largest providers of Mobile Auto-Gas Refueling Units in the country.

Beyond downstream operations, Tetracore is extending into upstream projects across Bayelsa, Calabar, and parts of Ghana. Its growth to 3 million energy units reflects a strong focus on supporting industrialization and the adoption of cleaner energy across Africa.

“Our aim is to expand access to reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy across the continent,” Williams said. “Through innovation and strong partnerships, Tetracore is contributing to Nigeria’s energy future.”

A step forward for Nigeria’s energy transition

The commissioning ceremony brought together regulators, financiers, and community leaders, highlighting the importance of private sector investment in Nigeria’s energy shift. Tetracore’s expansion not only advances climate goals but also enhances industrial competitiveness, reduces energy costs, and strengthens energy security.

As global demand for cleaner fuels grows, the Phase II facility marks a significant step in Nigeria’s move toward gas-powered growth, reinforcing Tetracore’s role as a key voice in Africa’s evolving energy landscape.
