Not slowing down even as she broadens her reach beyond the media industry, Oprah Winfrey, the world’s richest Black woman, has added another $100 million to her net worth. This increase brings her total wealth gains for the year to $200 million.
Oprah Winfrey hits $3.2 billion mark
Winfrey, who turned her 25-year talk show into a billion-dollar media and business empire, has seen her wealth climb steadily in 2025. The $100 million boost adds to previous gains this year thus highlighting her continued success.
According to Forbes, Winfrey’s estimated fortune has risen from $3 billion at the start of the year to $3.2 billion, ranking her 1,287th among the world’s richest people.
Last year, her net worth went up by a similar $200 million, going from $2.8 billion at the end of 2023 to $3 billion at the end of 2024.
This year's $200 million gain is mostly due to a new look at her media and business interests, such as her investments in real estate, cable TV and entertainment.
Winfrey builds billion-dollar media empire
Oprah Winfrey built her empire through Harpo Productions, co-producing films such as The Color Purple, Beloved, and Selma.
The renowned American talk show host and media magnate retains a 25.5 percent stake in the Oprah Winfrey Network, the cable channel she launched in 2011.
Her investments are still paying off. In 2023, she backed Dr. Barbara Sturm's skincare line and made smart moves in real estate, including selling her Montecito estate for a $6.6 million profit.
Her holdings extend beyond the mainland U.S. Winfrey’s 2,130-acre property in Hawaii has made her one of the state’s top billionaire landowners, alongside Larry Ellison, Mark Zuckerberg and retail magnate Tadashi Yanai.
She plans to preserve much of the land, plant native species, and restore the watershed—reflecting a long-term commitment to conservation.
