Nigerian musician-turned-entrepreneur Oluwatosin “Mr. Eazi” Ajibade is putting fresh capital behind live entertainment in West Africa, pledging $2 million to develop new indoor and outdoor event venues in Accra, a move aimed at expanding the city’s capacity to host large-scale performances year-round.
Mr. Eazi backs Accra venues
The announcement was made onstage during Detty Rave 7, Mr. Eazi’s annual year-end concert, where he called for support from the Ghana Tourism Authority and framed the investment as part of a broader effort to strengthen the business of live events across the region. Accra, long seen as a cultural hub for music and fashion, still faces limits when it comes to modern, purpose-built venues capable of hosting global acts at scale.
Mr. Eazi’s profile as an entrepreneur has grown alongside his music career. Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, publicly praised him at his September 2025 wedding to Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, describing the artist as a sharp business mind with operations spanning 18 African countries.
High-production concert, Detty Rave 7, draws thousands
Detty Rave 7 underlined why the event has become one of Africa’s most closely watched live shows. Held along Spintex Road, the concert ran from 6 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2025, into the early hours of Jan. 1, 2026, drawing thousands of attendees. Social media buzz focused on the smooth logistics, high production standards and strong crowd management, areas that often challenge large events in the West and Central Africa region.
DJs, including CiZA, Kelvin and DJ Spinall, kept the energy high, while headline performances from Davido, Medikal, J Hus, Shallipopi, King Promise and Wande Coal anchored the night. The first 5,000 guests received gift items, and the stage design, inspired by the Choplife griot mask, stood out as a central visual feature. Designed by Dennis Osadebe Studio and executed by Dotun Popoola, the structure blended cultural motifs with contemporary production.
Mr. Eazi grows multi-sector portfolio
Away from the stage, Mr. Eazi has spent recent years building a diverse portfolio of businesses. Through his investment firm, Zagadat Capital, he has backed fintech companies, home-services startups, beauty brands, gaming ventures, sports teams and real estate projects, alongside music and entertainment assets. Dangote has gone so far as to predict that the artist could rank among the world’s wealthiest individuals in the years ahead.
In September 2025, Mr. Eazi disclosed on X that Choplife Gaming, one of his ventures, had paid $11.7 million in taxes to Rwanda since 2022. The statement came as Rwanda tightened oversight of its gambling sector, thus highlighting the recent boom of gaming businesses. Mr Eazi said the payments reflected long-term investment in compliance and local operations.
Beyond capital and infrastructure, he continues to back talent through emPawa Africa, an initiative that provides funding, mentorship and distribution support to emerging artists. Together, the venue investment in Accra and his wider business activity point to a strategy rooted in building systems, not just hits, across Africa’s creative economy.
