Taiwo Afolabi has expanded his push for youth empowerment through technology, with his Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation training more than 90 students in Lagos in artificial intelligence, machine learning and computer literacy.

The programme, held at State Senior Secondary School, Oyewole in Agege, was delivered in partnership with the World Bank as part of the foundation Community Connections Campaign Projects across Nigeria.

Afolabi, chairman of SIFAX Group, has increasingly positioned digital skills development as a core pillar of his social investment strategy. Organisers said the training is designed to equip young people with practical tools that can improve academic performance, enhance employability and open pathways to entrepreneurship.

Students were selected from different classes within the school, with the expectation that they will transfer the knowledge gained to their peers, multiplying the impact within the wider student community.

Mrs Foluke Ademokun, Executive Coordinator of the foundation, said the initiative addresses youth unemployment and the growing technology skills gap in Nigeria. She noted that empowering students with relevant digital knowledge strengthens both individual prospects and long term community development.

School administrators welcomed the intervention, describing it as timely and transformative. Vice Principal Mrs Sherifat Ajala thanked the foundation and SIFAX Group for giving students direct exposure to technology experts and practical learning experiences.

Two students, Goodluck Innocent and Moses Faith, were recognised for outstanding participation during the sessions. They expressed appreciation for the opportunity, saying the skills acquired would shape their future ambitions.

At the close of the programme, the foundation donated a projector, laptop and projector screen to support continued digital learning within the school.

The Agege training adds to a growing list of schools reached under Afolabi broader education empowerment initiative. Institutions in Badagry, Epe, Ile Epo, Ifako Ijaiye, Alimosho and parts of Ondo State have also benefited from similar interventions.

Organisers estimate that nearly 600 students have been trained so far as Afolabi foundation scales its effort to bridge Nigeria digital divide and prepare young people for a technology driven economy.
