HACO Industries Kenya Limited walked away from this year's Kenya ESG Awards with one of its more coveted distinctions, the Circular Economy Leader title, an acknowledgement of the manufacturer's sustained push to weave sustainability into its day-to-day operations.

The awards ceremony was held at Emara Ole Sereni in Nairobi, bringing together companies that have staked a claim in environmental stewardship, social responsibility and corporate governance. HACO's recognition singled out its work in trimming waste, sharpening resource efficiency and building production models that the company says are designed to outlast short-term thinking.

Managing Director Mary-Ann Musangi accepted the award and did not mince words about what the recognition means for the company's direction.

"This recognition reinforces our belief that responsible manufacturing is essential to the future of business," Musangi said. "At HACO, we are committed to embedding circular economy principles in the way we design products, manage resources and collaborate with our partners across the value chain. Sustainability is not just an obligation; it is a pathway to innovation, resilience and long-term competitiveness."

The Kenya ESG Awards are pitched as a benchmark celebration of firms that are setting the pace across Kenyan industries, spanning environmental impact, governance structures and social contribution. Winning the circular economy category carries particular weight at a moment when climate pressures and shifting consumer expectations are forcing manufacturers across the region to rethink how they source, produce and dispose.

HACO has been moving on several fronts. The company has worked on production efficiencies, responsible sourcing and waste reduction within its manufacturing lines. It has also been tightening ties with suppliers and partners to push sustainability further up and down its value chain, not just inside its own walls.

The timing of the award is not incidental. Across Kenya and East Africa, the pressure on businesses to demonstrate environmental accountability has been mounting, driven by a mix of regulatory signals, investor scrutiny and a consumer base that is paying closer attention to where products come from and how they are made.

HACO says its ambition, through circular economy integration, is to contribute to a tougher, more sustainable manufacturing sector while lending support to Kenya's wider environmental and economic development agenda.
