Good morning from Billionaires.Africa.

Here is a brief on what we published yesterday.

Aliko Dangote turned 69 on Friday, and the birthday brought more than tributes. President Tinubu issued a public statement crediting Dangote's "entrepreneurial vision, resilience, innovation and commitment to excellence" with repositioning Nigeria as a hub for petrochemical and cement production. More operationally significant: NNPC delivered 10 crude cargoes to the Dangote Refinery in March, double its earlier pace of five per month. Afreximbank's $2.5 billion loan commitment, announced two weeks ago, gives the group the capital runway to pursue a $100 billion enterprise target by 2030. At 69, Dangote is not at the end of the story. He is barely at the midpoint.

Elsewhere, South Africa's tax authority SARS issued a fresh notice targeting how high-wealth individuals fund trusts and structure donations — with new lifestyle audit powers and penalties of up to 200 percent now in play. And Italy honored Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris with the Grand Officer of the Order of the Star of Italy, recognizing his telecom investments and decades of work strengthening Cairo-Rome ties.
