Hassan Allam Construction has secured a $560 million engineering, procurement and construction contract for the West Minya Solar Power Project in Egypt's Minya Governorate, in a 50-50 joint venture with Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy, the companies confirmed on June 29, 2026.

The project will comprise 1,000 megawatts of solar photovoltaic capacity integrated with a 600 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system, making it one of Egypt's largest utility-scale renewable energy developments upon completion. The joint venture will be responsible for the full engineering, procurement and construction of the facility, covering photovoltaic generation infrastructure, battery storage systems, grid interconnection works and transmission facilities.

The West Minya project is being developed by Hassan Allam Utilities Energy Platform in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, French infrastructure investor Meridiam and Infinity Power Holding. No completion date has been publicly disclosed.

Hassan Allam Construction is a subsidiary of Hassan Allam Holding, one of Egypt's largest privately owned construction and infrastructure conglomerates. Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy is an Indian-listed solar EPC company backed by Mukesh Ambani's Reliance New Energy. The award is Sterling and Wilson's third gigawatt-scale order in nine months.

The contract follows Hassan Allam's June 2026 award of a SAR 2.7 billion ($727 million) contract to build the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Mixed-Use Superblock at Saudi Arabia's Diriyah development, extending a recent run of major international awards for the Egyptian group.

Egypt has set a target of generating 42 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2035. The West Minya project forms part of that programme alongside existing solar and wind developments at Benban and Gabal El-Zeit.
