Thierry Henry, the French former footballer who remains Arsenal's record goalscorer, has put his Manhattan penthouse on the market for $25 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The duplex sits on the SoHo–Tribeca border, with terraces and views over the Hudson River. Henry bought it in the summer of 2010, the year he left Barcelona for the New York Red Bulls, after a day of house-hunting with his partner Andrea Rajacic that turned up nothing else they liked. The couple renovated it.

Henry has built a second career since retiring, and it is not a quiet one. He works as an analyst for CBS Sports, Amazon Prime Video and Fox Sports, earning a reported £100,000 a week, a figure comparable to a senior Premier League player's wage.

He has also moved into club ownership. Henry is among the owners of Italian side Como 1907, managed by his former Arsenal teammate Cesc Fàbregas, in one of the more unusual ownership groups in European football.

His property holdings extend beyond New York. He is reported to own a £10 million house in Hampstead, north London.

Henry's playing salaries across Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal, Barcelona and the Red Bulls are estimated at roughly $105 million gross, with his Arsenal years alone accounting for about $48 million as his wage climbed from around £25,000 a week to £130,000 by 2006. Endorsements during his playing career are put at roughly $75 million, and post-retirement media and business income at about $60 million.

That puts his lifetime gross earnings somewhere between $230 million and $250 million of which what remains is a far smaller number.
