American billionaire Ken Griffin’s Citadel Securities is moving into a larger office in India early next year, as the market-making giant deepens its push into one of the world’s fastest-growing financial markets.

The firm’s Indian unit will shift from its current office at Two Horizon Center in Gurugram, near New Delhi, to a nearby tower owned by the Godrej Industries group, Bloomberg reported on Monday. The move was revealed in a filing provided by real estate data firm Propstack and confirmed by a person familiar with the matter.

The new space is the latest sign of how seriously Citadel Securities is treating India. The Miami-based firm, which makes money by buying and selling securities to provide liquidity to markets, has been steadily building up its local team over the past year.

In June, the firm expanded its India trading and engineering teams, Bloomberg reported at the time. That followed a hiring push in August 2025, when Citadel Securities added staff in India after the Jane Street saga.

Citadel Securities has also taken a stake in the country’s market infrastructure. In August 2025, it joined trading firm Tower Research Capital in a rare investment in an Indian stock exchange. Two months later, it signaled plans for a bigger India push as the market regulator looked for more liquidity in the country’s markets.

India has become a major target for global trading firms. Its derivatives market has grown into one of the busiest in the world, drawing in high-speed traders and market makers looking for new sources of volume.

The expansion comes as Griffin, the founder of both Citadel Securities and the hedge fund Citadel, stays in the spotlight. Last week, he said artificial intelligence is “almost certainly” in a bubble, a warning that drew wide attention given his standing on Wall Street.

He has also been spending heavily at home. Griffin recently gave a record $3 billion to Carnegie Mellon University and bought Miami’s Mana Wynwood for $1.1 billion, adding to a string of property deals in the city where he moved Citadel’s headquarters.

Earlier this month, he also raised his gift to a Miami hospital to $75 million.

The intelligence satisfies curiosity. The paid briefings satisfy strategy.
