Rupert, Africa’s wealthiest individual, holds a 6.87-percent stake in Remgro, valued at more than $357.2 million.
With an impressive global ranking of 145 among the world’s wealthiest people, Rupert has constructed a diverse investment portfolio.
Rupert’s net worth has risen from $8.5 billion on Nov. 3 to $10.8 billion at the time of writing.
Grindrod is a freight logistics and shipping services company owned in part by Remgro.
Malherbe owns a beneficial 0.21-percent stake in the investment holding.
Remgro has also completed the sale of a 30-percent stake in South Africa’s largest wine and spirits producer, Distell Group.
Rupert’s investment firm, Remgro, owns 44.6 percent of Mediclinic, South Africa’s largest hospital operator.
Similarly, Remgro’s 44.6-percent stake in Mediclinc has increased in value by $281.5 million.
The news comes a week after Mediclinic rejected its acquisition bid.
Rupert’s net worth is valued at $11.7 billion, making him the 179th richest man in the world and the second-wealthiest man in Africa.
This takes his total gains this year to more than $1.5 billion.
Remgro is an investment holding founded by the South African Rupert family in the 1940s.
The fund aims to help restaurants that suffered due to COVID-19.
Distell, a leading South African brewer, is partly owned by his investment group.
Distell is linked to South African billionaire Johann Rupert.
