Integrated Diagnostics Holdings (IDH), one of the region’s top healthcare providers led by Egyptian businesswoman Hend El-Sherbini, has acquired CAIRO RAY for Radiotherapy, a radiology and radiotherapy facility based in East Cairo, for EGP400 million ($8 million).
The deal, completed through IDH’s radiology subsidiary Al Borg Scan, marks a key step in expanding the group’s radiology business alongside its well-established pathology operations. “This investment reflects our continued commitment to building a strong radiology presence in Egypt,” said El-Sherbini, CEO of IDH. “Since we launched Al Borg Scan, we’ve seen encouraging growth, thanks to a clear strategy and the dedication of our local teams.”
IDH eyes growth in medical imaging
Hend El-Sherbini added that the newly acquired facility is expected to start contributing to the company’s performance by 2026, with more meaningful returns expected in the years that follow. “By growing our reach and enhancing the services we offer, we’re aiming to meet rising demand in Egypt’s underserved radiology and radiotherapy markets — and bring more specialized care closer to where people live.”
The 2,000 square meter facility is located in a medical hub in New Cairo, one of the capital’s upscale neighborhoods. It offers a wide range of radiology and radiotherapy services, giving IDH a chance to expand into a higher-value segment while strengthening its presence in the Greater Cairo area. The deal includes the acquisition of the facility’s real estate, medical equipment, staff, and existing commercial agreements. With this addition, Al Borg Scan now operates eight branches across the city.
Hend El-Sherbini expands IDH’s regional footprint
Under El-Sherbini, IDH has grown into a leading diagnostics group serving patients across Egypt, Jordan, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and Sudan. Its key brands include Al Borg, Al Mokhtabar, and Al Borg Scan in Egypt; Biolab in Jordan and Saudi Arabia; and Echo-Lab and Ultralab in Nigeria and Sudan. With more than 40 years of experience, IDH has earned a reputation for reliability, quality, and international accreditation across a portfolio of over 3,000 diagnostic tests.
By the end of 2024, IDH operated 628 branches and served more than 8.9 million patients, conducting over 39 million tests. That same year, revenue grew to EGP4.11 billion ($82.76 million), up from EGP3.05 billion ($61.54 million) in 2023, a 9 percent increase. Patient numbers also rose by 6 percent, while net profit surged 87 percent to EGP724 million ($14.59 million), driven largely by foreign exchange gains and lower interest expenses.
Revenue rises, FX hit profits
In the first quarter of 2025, the company continued to grow, with revenue rising to EGP1.58 billion ($31.8 million), compared to EGP1.17 billion ($23.5 million) in Q1 2024. The growth was largely fueled by strong performance in Egypt and Jordan. However, net profit dropped to EGP245 million ($4.92 million), down from EGP402 million ($8.07 million) a year earlier, mostly due to reduced foreign exchange gains. Stripping out those effects, underlying profit more than doubled, supported by improved efficiency and better margins.
