Music icon and tech entrepreneur William James Adams Jr., better known Will.i.am has stepped into the spotlight at CES with a project that blends music, design and artificial intelligence: an AI-powered electric vehicle called TRINITY.

When the Black Eyed Peas frontman isn’t recording, he is working on technology ventures. At the Consumer Electronics Show, Will.i.am unveiled TRINITY, a three-wheel electric vehicle designed for single riders and dense city travel. The project is positioned as a micromobility concept that leans heavily on AI to shape how drivers interact with the vehicle.

500-unit AI vehicle launches 2027

Only 500 units are expected to be offered initially, with a planned debut in August 2027, according to details shared at the show and reported by Complex. TRINITY runs on NVIDIA’s DGX Spark platform, which powers its AI systems.

“TRINITY is about aligning the human, the vehicle and the agent,” Will.i.am said in a written statement. “It’s built to have conversations, track goals and make urban travel feel more connected.”

Luxury EV features sound and comfort

A Kickstarter campaign launched Jan. 6 to gauge interest and allow early supporters to join a preorder program. The vehicle is expected to feature a weatherproof cabin, a high-end interior and studio-quality sound—an unsurprising touch from a music producer. The top speed is projected at 120 mph.

The price is expected to come in below $30,000. Manufacturing and company operations are planned for Boyle Heights in Los Angeles, with West Coast Customs and DEKA Research & Development contributing to key parts of the build. The vehicle remains in the concept stage and is designed for one passenger.

Will.i.am’s tech vision predates AI

Will.i.am’s interest in technology predates the current AI boom. He invested in Tesla in 2006, well before the company became a household name, and was also an early backer of Twitter. His investment portfolio includes Pinterest, Dropbox, OpenAI and Anthropic.

In recent interviews, he has said his focus is on advancing AI beyond language tools into systems that support real-world problem-solving. In June 2024, he partnered with billionaire Robert F. Smith to launch an AI education initiative aimed at closing skills gaps by linking students with technology training and internships. With TRINITY, Will.i.am is placing another bet on how people might move—and interact with machines—in the years ahead.
