Mohamed Salah has given his initial approval to pursue a move to the Saudi Pro League after departing Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 Premier League season, but has set conditions on salary and contract duration that must be met before any agreement is finalized, according to reports from Marib Press cited by Football365.

The 33-year-old Egyptian forward confirmed in March that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the season, closing a nine-year chapter at Anfield in which he scored 257 goals in 442 appearances in all competitions and won every major honor available to a club player, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.

His final season was a disappointing one by his own standards, with Salah managing 12 goals in 41 appearances amid a public falling-out with Liverpool manager Arne Slot that became one of the most widely discussed stories in European football. A December outburst directed at club management intensified speculation about his departure, which was subsequently confirmed.

According to the reports, Salah has received an offer from a Saudi Pro League club but has found the financial terms below what he expects, given both his market value and what he was offered before agreeing his final Liverpool contract extension. The Egyptian captain is understood to be stipulating an annual salary commensurate with his commercial worth, a multi-year contract of two or three seasons for stability, and conditions that reflect his global profile.

The Saudi Pro League has been aggressively recruiting global football stars for three years, signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Karim Benzema and dozens of others as part of the Public Investment Fund's effort to build the league's international credibility. Al-Ittihad, the SPL champions where former Liverpool teammate Fabinho currently plays, has been most closely linked to Salah.

European clubs remain in the picture. AC Milan and AS Roma, where Salah played early in his career before joining Liverpool in 2017, have been reported as interested. Galatasaray, the Turkish champions and regular Champions League participants, have also been linked. Odds from British bookmakers rate a move to a Turkish club as slightly more likely than a Saudi destination, with Al-Ittihad at 3/1 specifically.

Salah ended his Liverpool career having cemented himself as the club's all-time leading scorer in Premier League history and one of the finest players to have played in England. An announcement on his next destination is expected within days, according to Egypt national team media coordinator Muhammad Murad.
