Egyptian billionaire Hassan Allam’s construction group has secured an additional $500 million in construction works for the second phase of Grova EastHills, expanding its involvement in a residential development in East Cairo as the group grows its real estate portfolio.
Grova Developments awarded the additional works to Hassan Allam Construction for Phase II of EastHills, according to an announcement published on October 26, 2026. The expansion adds 334 acres to the development, taking its total area to more than 600 acres across two phases.
The new award follows the completion of sales for Phase I, which covers 305 feddans and was supported by a $550 million turnkey construction contract. The group said strong demand for the first phase prompted the expansion and an acceleration of construction activities.
Phase II will introduce additional villa designs in a broader range of sizes, alongside an enlarged residents only clubhouse and a new commercial destination offering everyday services. The development will retain its existing premium retail, dining and office facilities.
The project also illustrates Hassan Allam Holding’s vertically integrated business model. Grova Developments is the group’s real estate development arm, while Hassan Allam Construction executes building and infrastructure projects. The arrangement allows the group to combine property development with construction capabilities within the same corporate structure.
EastHills is part of a wider expansion across the region. In September, Grova Developments awarded Hassan Allam Construction a separate $1 billion contract to deliver Grova Westfields, a 303 acre development in Sheikh Zayed, west of Cairo. That project includes a five star hotel, branded residences, villas, apartments and associated infrastructure.
Hassan Allam Holding operates across engineering, construction, investment and development. The company says it has 18 subsidiaries and more than 50,000 employees, with operations spanning 10 countries.
The EastHills expansion strengthens the group’s position in Egypt’s residential development market while extending its construction arm’s role in delivering projects developed by its affiliated businesses.
