Billionaire Abdul Samad Rabiu, founder of ASR Africa and chairman of BUA Group, has funded a 500-seat lecture theatre at Adamawa State University for ₦350 million (US$241,379), extending his structured philanthropy in Nigeria’s tertiary sector.
The world-class research laboratory is one of many interventions under ASR Africa’s Tertiary Education Grants Scheme (TEGS), which is funded by ASR Africa’s $100-million Fund for Social Development and Renewal.
Rabiu, Nigeria’s second richest man, is a devoted muslim and one of Africa’s most generous philanthropists.
Rabiu is no longer ranked on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index of the 500 richest people in the world.
The ASRi is the philanthropic arm of BUA Group.
It is one of a handful of donations that the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative is making to Nigerian universities.
