At Africa Energy Week 2025 in Cape Town, Rone confirmed the $5 billion FLNG project is nearing FID, with Vitol and Seplat on board.
The appeal for investment was made during a meeting between Rone’s management team at UTM Offshore and Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the executive secretary of NCDMB.

Rone is the founder of UTM Offshore, a company that is building the country’s first FLNG facility.
Rone said the facility will be an enabler of industry expansion.
The project is expected to be fully completed in 2026.
