The Weitz Company, a subsidiary of Orascom Construction Plc, the engineering giant controlled by Egypt’s billionaire Sawiris family, has completed work as the general contractor for the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Telluride in Colorado.

The project marks another milestone for the engineering and construction giant controlled by Egypt’s billionaire Sawiris family. Located on a 4.5-acre parcel in the mountain community of Telluride, the new resort covers about 532,000 square feet, according to a company statement.

A new chapter in Telluride luxury

The Four Seasons Telluride will feature 52 luxury hotel rooms, 43 hotel residences, and 26 private homes. It is the first new luxury hotel and residential development in the ski destination in more than 15 years.

The Weitz Company, with more than seven decades of experience building in Colorado, has been involved in some of the state’s most demanding mountain resort projects. The Telluride development, the company said, adds to its track record in high-end hospitality construction.

Beyond the United States, the project broadens Orascom’s global footprint in luxury hospitality. The firm has previously delivered major developments across the Mediterranean and the Middle East and Africa region.

Family legacy and business reach

Orascom Construction was founded in 1976 by the late Egyptian businessman Onsi Sawiris. The company remains under the control of the Sawiris family, Egypt’s richest family and one of the wealthiest in Africa, widely recognized among the most influential families in the MENA region.

Under the family, Orascom has built a solid track record in engineering, construction, and infrastructure projects spanning the Middle East, Africa and North America. The Sawiris family’s private investment vehicle, OS Private Trust Company, holds about 54.9 percent of Orascom, while billionaire Nassef Sawiris personally owns a 42.4 percent stake in the company.

Market standing and financial performance

In September, Orascom Construction’s shares began trading on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange under the ticker “ORAS.” It reported a project backlog of $9.6 billion in the first half of its 2025 fiscal year, supported by $3.4 billion in new awards during the same period.

The new Four Seasons project reflects how the Sawiris family continues to blend Egyptian enterprise with global ambition—positioning Orascom as a trusted builder for some of the world’s most exclusive developments.
