American billionaire filmmaker Tyler Perry has cut the asking price of his home in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, by $3.5 million to $36 million, as he sells off property ahead of a move to Puerto Rico.
Perry, the creator of the Madea films and owner of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, had been asking $39.5 million for the mountain estate. The property is a custom log home of nearly 11,000 square feet with a separate guest house, set on about 37 acres in Jackson.
The price cut comes days after Perry bought a $30 million mansion in Puerto Rico, where he plans to settle at the start of 2027. The house sits on nearly 1.4 acres in a gated community and has about 14,475 square feet of living space, five bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a cinema, a pool and a gym.
Selling in two states
The Wyoming home is one of two big properties Perry is trying to sell. He also has his Beverly Hills estate on the market for $57 million, putting the combined asking price of the two homes at $96.5 million before the latest cut.
The California property sits on 22.5 acres. Perry began assembling the land about two decades ago for $4.3 million and finished building the house in 2012. It has two home theaters, a wine cellar, a gym, a music hall, a library, a guesthouse and staff quarters. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stayed there in 2020 after they stepped back from their roles in the British royal family.
Perry announced the move to Puerto Rico on Sept. 14 during an appearance on NBC's "Today" show to promote his film "Why Did I Get Married Again?"
"Yep, moving to Puerto Rico at the top of the year, and I'm pulling back a whole lot," he said. "It's time to slow down a bit, enjoy more time with my son and just take it all in."
He plans to open a production office on the island and film shows there. He is keeping his Atlanta home and Tyler Perry Studios, the production complex he built on the site of the former Fort McPherson Army base in southwest Atlanta.
Perry, 57, became a billionaire in 2020. Most of his fortune comes from his film and television library, which he owns almost entirely, and from his studio. His recent films have been released on Netflix, which premieres his next movie, "The Gospel of Christmas," on Nov. 11.
